How planning works
What asambl does behind a single weekly draft, from a team of specialist planners to the conflict check that reconciles their work into one week.
When you run your week, asambl gives you back one coherent plan. Behind that single draft it runs a small team of planners, each focused on one part of your life, and does the work of reconciling them so you do not have to. This page explains what happens between your answers at intake and the week you review.
One draft, a team behind it
A conductor reads your week and hands each life area you have turned on to its own specialist planner. Each specialist knows only its own part of life: the Health planner reasons about training and recovery, the Finance planner reasons about spending and savings, and so on.
Giving each area its own planner means every part of your week is thought about properly, rather than one general pass that treats them all the same.
There are seven planners for six areas. Relationships runs two, one for your closest relationship and one for your wider circle, because the two need different things from a week.
They plan in parallel
The specialists work at the same time rather than one after another. While the Health planner sequences your training week, the Finance planner is already drafting your spending, and every other area you turned on is being planned alongside them.
Each one drafts against the same picture of your week: the priorities and energy you gave at intake, and the events you have already committed to.
The conflict check reconciles the clashes
Working in parallel means the specialists do not see each other's proposals as they draft, so their suggestions can collide. Before anything reaches you, asambl checks their proposals against each other and catches the clashes: a late finish colliding with an early workout, three demanding days stacked in a row, more planned hours than the week can actually hold.
The conductor then reconciles those into a single plan, sized to the capacity you actually have. A low-energy week comes back lighter than a high-energy one, because capacity is part of what the check reasons about.
You review one coherent week
What lands in front of you is one plan, not six separate to-do lists. You accept the areas that fit, amend the blocks you want to change, and skip the rest; the week rebalances live around your decisions. Nothing is committed until you accept it.
See Weekly planning for the ritual itself, Plans for reviewing a draft before it commits, and Calendar for how the plan becomes real events.
Following along
If you want to see the working rather than just the result, the Plan thread screen logs every turn asambl took for the current planning week, in order. It ships hidden; turn it on in Settings, under General. See Settings.
When AI is off
This whole flow needs AI on: drafting the week is what the language model does. Switch AI off and asambl will not draft the week for you. Instead you get a blank weekly template to fill in by hand, and the rest of the app keeps working.
